Ohio Center for Ecology and Evolutionary Studies OCEES GRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM The Program The goal of the OCEES fellowship is to increase research support for graduate students in ecology and evolutionary biology at Ohio University. The program provides relief from teaching for highly competitive graduate students who are enrolled in masters or doctoral programs in OCEES departments. The fellowship serves to facilitate the student’s research productivity by enabling them to devote full time to complete field or laboratory research or work on writing theses/dissertations and/or publications.
Funding The OCEES Fellowship program provides funding replacement for one or more quarters of stipend to replace normal teaching stipends. The tuition waiver remains in place.
Eligibility Applicants must: · be mentored by an OCEES faculty member and have degree research with sufficient ecological or evolutionary relevance · have an approved thesis or dissertation research proposal filed in their departmental degree program, or the expectation that a research proposal will be approved by spring of the current year

not have research assistant funding from other sources
during the period of the fellowship Responsibilities OCEES Fellows: · will be required to present a seminar on their work (most likely during a spring quarter) · may be called upon for some service related activities related to OCEES functions such as the Darwin Lecture or the UGRIP program. · Submit a 1-page report of research accomplishments during the fellowship · You must prepare a 1-page web page describing your fellowship activities (format pending) · must acknowledge support of the OCEES Fellowship in research related communications
Criteria for Selection Applicants will be reviewed according to the following criteria: · Academic and research achievement to date · Evidence of ongoing successful implementation of their research proposal · Demonstration of timely completion of degree requirements · Justification of the need for the fellowship as described in the application · Comments of letters of recommendation
Application process Application information, materials, and deadlines are distributed to OCEES faculty in December each year.
